Welcome to my website!
I am an independent, liberal Rabbi living in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Currently I serve as the Chaplain of the Jewish Chaplaincy Society and as the Jewish Chaplain for the federal prisons in the Pacific region of Canada.
I am available for life cycle ceremonies, teaching and spiritual counselling. Many of the people I have worked with do not belong to synagogues or have needs that cannot be met in most synagogue settings. For example, I officiate at interfaith and same-sex wedding ceremonies. I believe that everyone should have access to their traditions regardless of the directions our lives sometimes take.
I‘m a long time member of the Jewish Renewal Community Or Shalom in Vancouver. My ordination is from the Modern Rabbi Program of the Rabbinic Seminary International in New York City (Rabbi Joseph Gelberman z‘l), although I did most of my rabbinic training through the rabbinic studies program of Aleph: Alliance for Jewish Renewal.

Upcoming Jewish Holiday
Passover (Hebrew: פֶּסַח Pesach)
Begins sunset of Friday, March 30, 2018
Ends nightfall of Saturday, April 7, 2018
No work permitted on March 31 - April 1 and April 6 - 7. Work is permitted only on April 2 - 5 with certain restrictions.
Commemorates the story of the Exodus, in which the ancient Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt. Passover begins on the 15th day of the month of Nisan in the Jewish calendar, which is in spring in the Northern Hemisphere, and is celebrated for seven or eight days. It is one of the most widely observed Jewish holidays.
Lag BaOmer (Hebrew: ל״ג בעומר),
Thursday, May 3, 2018
also Lag B'Omer, is a Jewish holiday celebrated on the 33rd day of the Counting of the Omer, which occurs on the 18th day of the Hebrew month of Iyar. One reason given for the holiday is as the day of passing of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. Modern Jewish tradition links the holiday to the Bar Kokhba Revolt against the Roman Empire (132-135 CE). In Israel, it is celebrated as a symbol for the fighting Jewish spirit.
